Target. I always bypass Walmart and drive father to Target, even if it costs a little more. I find Wal-Mart's atmosphere to be depressing and a lot of the employees in the Wal-Marts in my area are not helpful at all and some are just plain rude. A lot of the Wal-Mart customers are kinda weird and very rude as well. Target has better quality items and I don't get that depressing feeling as soon as I walk in. |

Target is by far the better place to spend your time. Wal-Mart is all over the news with scandal and yet you don't really hear much about Target. |

I prefer Target when it comes to service and getting what you need quickly. Wal-Mart seems to be almost like a mission to accomplish when it comes to shopping there.
I love the way that when you need assistance at Target all you have to do is pick up a red phone. You can spend a long time looking for assistance at Wal-Mart. What makes it worse is that now the employees are only required to wear blue shirts so its harder to find someone who works there. The only upside to Wal-Mart is their prices. |

I prefer Target but it's much farther from my home than Walmart. I try to avoid Walmart as much as possible so as not to "feed the beast." Plus they often have trouble with slow computers and malfunctioning card readers. You'd think they could afford to update their equipment more often. Walmart has discontinued some products that I buy but Target still has them. Target is sometimes higher but the store is cleaner, quieter and they have better sales. |

Target,
They are compatable with prices, friendly in service, and now selling food so I guess they are turning into a super store.
So yah, Target. When I bought stuff at Walmart the things would not hold up. Stuff I bought for my son would brake and become a choking hazard when he was younger. |

Bad business is always going to go on.
I prefer walmart when buying lots of stuff like groceries, or buying cheap household items like a toaster or towels.
For something really unique or cute..I like target. Issac Mizrahi has a super cute collection @ Target of bedroom/decorating stuff. |

Target better. My brother works there. They treat him better than Wal-Mart does. |

I prefer Target, if nothing else but for the fact that their stores are cleaner, better organized, and they keep that damn PA system quiet. Wal-Mart stores, on the other hand, are dirty, nasty, and someone is constantly on the horn. |

Walmart is cheaper.
But i work for target and the employees are treated great!
I really love it there. I also just started a couple weeks ago to save up for college.
I would say look for a new job while still at walmart.
Try a Target, they are great. Dont do CVS.(worked there for a year)
Subway is really cool(did that too).
And party stores are crazy hectic. Just stick with basic places like target or subway. places like those! Good Luck! |

I just started working at Walmart in June, and I love it. Once you get used to how the managers operate (they all seem to have their own way of doing things... lol), you will figure out what will get you the kudos and what will get you in trouble. I do agree that some managers (at least at our store) are not the best, but if you have a good store manager then issues usually get resolved pretty quickly.
I do agree that they don't pay very well, unless you are planning on staying and can get into management. You might also try another department which might be better.
As far as suppliers in the article from 2003, I imagine there are some that are having issues but the commercial bread vendors at our store seem to be very happy with their arrangement and pricing. |

I don't like either...each company is loaded with funds and pay their employees NOTHING.
Ever seen a Wal-Mart or Target employee who SERIOUSLY looks THRILLED with their job?? I haven't and there are 3 Wal-Marts and 2 Targets in my area...
I don't shop at either unless I HAVE too and when I do its Wal-Mart because it's the closest to me. |
