The only way you could be considered naive would be if you stated you didn't actually believe it was happening in the face of actual proof to the contrary. I don't know whether it is happening or not, but even if it is, it doesn't violate any laws or tenets because it involves the activities of private companies, not the government. Instead it should just offend the sensibilities of all rational thinking people.

It is the duty of corporate officers to protect the interests of their stockholders.
It is a fact that the two fastest growing markets in the world are India and China.
Given that China is, potentially, a larger market it then becomes the obligation of the corporate officers to do business there.
As long as they are not in violation of the laws of their home countries, they can -- and should -- observe the laws and regulations of the country they are operating in.
The Chinese government gets to call the shots in China. If they want to censor the internet it is their right to do so in their land.
By the way did you realize that the state of New York is censoring the Internet? The Attorney General of the state of New York has coerced or persuaded several major ISPs to no longer carry usenets alt newsgroups because some of the alt groups were used for the dissemination of child porn. Yep, we can stop the bleeding by killing the patient!
