Surely this sounds like a silly question, but I'm totally confused. How are the prices set and what makes them rise and fall? Who is in charge of relaying this information?

No -- I don't care for the way they run their business (from many standpoints) and much of their merchandise is shoddy. I don't shop much -- when I do I try to patronize local merchants.

No. While the products are often cheaper they are of much poorer quality. I bought silverware there that rusted in two months as well as furniture that broke after six months.

yes, because they have cheap prices and all the nice clothes other than the mall.

no i dont shop there. ever since sam walton died, his dream of "buy american" went down the tubes by his money hungry relatives and the cronies that took over. now they buy the cheapest stuff they can get buy selling, even factory seconds in electronics. i personally know that in the past clothing was bought overseas and made in america labels sewn on. my brother is a truck driver who hauled loads this was done to.

For some things. Most of their stuff I don't bother with as it is crappy stuff. It has gone down hill quite a bit since Sam Walton died. I think he would really be turning over in his grave if he knew the shape his company was in now.

No because the closest wal-mart is 30 minutes from where I live...

no i do not shop at wal-mart for many reasons. i don't like the way they run their business. i don't care for the fact that they keep a lot of their full time employees just under the amount of hours that would make health benefits available. there are other large chain stores similar to wal-mart that offer benefits to even part time employees. there are too many wal-mart stores and every time i take road trips to my favorite places in the summer, there are more built along the way. wal-mart executives are money whores and i wish more people would stop shopping their and instead support their local smaller businesses.
