yes and no. Some CEOs are definitely overpaid, but most are not. It would be better if their compensation was somehow tied to their performance, and how the company improved under their leadership. CEOs are under a tremendous amount of stress and have to process an incredible amount of information each day. The amount of responsibility they carry on their shoulders is something the average person can't even relate to. Not many people are capable of performing this job. If they are one of the few who can perform this job well, they should be well compensated. That is the beauty of free enterprise.
You can't compare what the average worker lives on to the pay of the CEO because he can't spend most of his compensation - it is not liquid assets. That is like comparing apples to oranges. Do I wish I were a CEO? No way! Do I wish I were paid more for the job I do perform? Of course. I am always under appreciated and underpaid by the bosses who are in control. However, I would not want to live in a place that did not have free enterprise. |

yes they are overpaid, i would love for the CEOs to work a normal job for a week, i think it would be funny. (i don;t think they could spend 8 hours on there feet) |

not just overpaid....grossly overpaid and i'm not sure if the story mentions it or not, as i only saw the headline when i logged into yahoo, but not just "cash" pay either, stock in company as conpensations for bonuses.....why not spread that wealth around to some of the lowly hard working individauls.....makes me sick and then you see something like enron and worldcom and that's even worse...... |
