Innovations such as touch screens and keyless keyboards, controllers taking the place of remotes will expand away from a visible opeating system. Microsoft will have a hold in the business market. But the home market is anyones market.

Microsoft have the leading edge now but their business practices like releasing xp operating systems with known flaws still unpatched and then charging you a yearly subscription to windows onecare to fix them will have people looking elsewhere for their operating systems, it is happening already with browsers like Firefox, Opera and Linux as soon as software manufacturers release more software that can run on the other operating systems windows will gradually fade in popularity and may even have to resort to operating good customer service, fixing bugs and properly testing their software before release I wouldn't hold my breath tho
