when it started out it was, but nowadays your average full time employee can't make ends meet--their "work week" is 28 hours and if someone does happen to go into overtime their managers are trained and told to bump those hours into the next week and to cut hours to accomodate them. They also abuse their suppliers by buying at a price and then lowering their buying price steadily each year forcing their suppliers to go under--I believe it was Gedney who almost went under when Wal Mart slashed their buying price. They're also notorious for leaving hugantic piles of fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, etc. for home gardens out in the open, exposed to the elements, including allowing them to drain into city water supplies and runoffs into waterways, contaminating them hideously. They've also locked illegal immigrant workers in the store to clean & restock and left them locked there till the manager got there the next morning. Another favorite stunt of theirs to pull is to make workers clock out to unload trucks.
Walmart is also one of the most anti union corporations in America--most of those security cameras that you see is to watch and see if there is union activity going on on the premises. Their workers have a fund that they can donate to freely for other retired workers pension fund the Waldens (or whatever their last name is) combined donated about $5,000 in the last few years (and this is a family that I believe is richer than Bill Gates). All in all Wal Mart is just the place I shop at because I'm a poor broke *** college student, their ethical practices are non existent to the point that unless you can afford to go no place else you really shouldnt' be going there, like I said I only shop there because I poor and broke. |

Walmart also benefits it's communities. Charities, sell products for less for those that can't afford clothes like everyone else. They have created jobs for the public. They do provide heath insurance the same as other companies with rules and regulations. They provide their employees with options to buy stock into Walmart.
If some local stores go out of business then maybe they were already not supplying the community as they should. They would go out of business anyways later if not now.
Women are being discriminated at any other company whether it's walmart or not.
Walmart does hire alot of elderly people that need jobs.
As for trading with china.... what company doesn't. Even our own Country does it. Why not ask about Mc Donald's, Burger King, Dominoes, Levis, and many other Companies that has either dealt with other countries and or up and left thousands of people here in America without jobs. |

YES! I saw the DVD about Wal-Mart!
They actually encourage people to get welfare, that don't get enough hours.
Wal-Mart managers backtrack overtime to 40.00 hrs.
Many other atrosities. |

If you don't work for Wal-Mart, what difference does it make. You are one of those who actually believe the media and now thinks Wal-Mart is evil. If you look hard enough at anything in the USA, you can find fault with it. Get over it already and quit acting like a whiney liberal who is jealous because Wal-Mart has more money than you. |

Yep, it's a free country. If you don't like 'em, don't shop there. At the same time don't try to push your beliefs on others. They can make up their own minds. |

ABSOLUTELY.... They sell junk at high prices. If the products were of good Quality / the price would be low but their "CRAP " is no good. They are getting Union representation now so watch the prices soar. Some stores will close ans some states willnot have WalMart. |

HELL NO. If anything, it's a benefit, at least to the buyers. |

You don't become #1 by being nice, check the history of this country. Do you also think the people that shop there are bad for this country? They could do more for their employees, but what large company couldn't? |

Apparently you must be working for a competitor of Wal-mart. More power to them. It must not be too bad there if people keep applying. I like it. I can't for the life of me understand why some people fight not to allow them to come into their area. If Mom and Pop are scared to loose their small business I say don't worry. Small stores are charming and people will always go there. |

yes they are a big threat to us all, they are running out all of the competition . they use unfair trade practices to monopolize their position.
we should be very scared... |

I have shopped at Wal-Mart but my favorite discount retailer to shop at is Target and here are five reasons why;
1. The parking lot is easy to navigate and parking is easy to get in and get out of.
2. Once I am done shopping, I am out of the store within 15 minutes after making my purchases.
3. The store is well organized and the associates who work at the store will assist you in anyway possible for you to be satisfy.
4. I live the food choices they have at their food area and the prices are reasonable.
5. The store is very clean and a friendly place to shop.
Now to I think that Wal-Mart is bad for the United States, no. I do occasionally shop at Wal-Mart but I do not shop there a lot because I prefer Target over Wal-Mart. |

I like Walmart. Every company has Corporate rules and regulations. Not all companies provide insurance for their employers. Is it right, no. What do you want us to do boycott all companies that we fill is not far to their employees. Then where will the consumer be. |

my wife is a long time wal-mart employee as a pharmacy tech. they pay her well, even give her cost of living raises. you can't tell me that you never shop at wal-mart. they have everything. so they employ a lot of part time employees so they don't have to pay insurance. they are at least paying them so we don't have to support them on welfair!! |
