Do you think a company give me a probation period 6 month is normal and reasonable?
do you think a company give me a probation period 6 month is normal and reasonable? thanks.

It depends on what position are you being given. Different companies have different probation period especially if the position is more demanding, they may need a longer probation period to gauge your performance

LARRY J7
This is both normal AND reasonaable in the scope of normal business procedures currently in play.
Although a vast majority of businesses that HAVE probationary procedures in place --- call for a shorter period (usually 3 months) --- it is not uncommon OR out of line for a company to ask a longer period in which to evaluate your performance and adaptablity within any job code. And, as long as this is understood from the beginning -- it is well within the ethical boundries of a business' rights to require !!

does it matter.. What does being on probation really mean anyway? It just another stupid title. If you piss them off or don't give them what they are paying you for they'll fire ya. It's that simple. But that really won't change in 3 months or 6 months.

Usually 3 months, but 6 months isn't out of the question.

What I think is irrelevant. Do you think it's fair and reasonable? If so, take the job. If not, you can leave.

cosmcruncher
3 months is more the standard, it really depends on the job. I have had jobs where I was in contact with a lot of peoples personal information as well as company confidential information. The more information sensitive the job is the longer the proby period seems to be. This is fairly common unless they did it specifically for you and no one else then there is little to be concerned about. I have also seen peoples background (short employment time at other jobs, criminal records, etc.) also have an effect on the amount of time spent in 'probation.' If you have a concern, talk to your employer and see what their reasoning is for setting up extended probation's.
