i think a large number of them are. Exxon Mobil being number one. i mean look at it this way. the top 2 companies in the fortune 500 club(richest companies in the world)are Walmart and Exxon Mobil. if the oil companies arent price gouging then how are they profiting 30-40 billion dollars a year? and when Lee Raymond(CEO of Exxon Mobil) retired he received nearly 400 million dollars for retirement. you tell me if thats greed.

...
No, my dad works for one. Michelin Tires. and they r not greedy, but I admit that some other big companies are! I help my dad all the time with his work, and ya they sell alot of stuff, but they pay for my dads company car, and gas, and other stuff. I think that if certain celebrities are involved then those companies definately are greedy!!

♥Sara♥
Not greedy, they need to keep there shareholders happy.

If you had shares in a company that wasted money or didn't have a high sales target you would remove your shares.

Hahaha, yeah, but so are the people who insist on buying all their crap and giving them free advertising the process. Apple, Nike, BMW, etc. Why do we love to advertise for companies whose goods we pay so much for? Shouldn't they be paying us?

Companies are required to serve the interests of their owners, as their first duty.

That does not mean that a management team may not also be serving their own private interest, but by law they must be selfish as guardians of the interests of the shareholders.

miss_nikki
Yes, they are in business because they want to make money and they want to make as much money as they can. That is the definition of greedy.

Of course; how do you think that they got to be as big as they are? Money makes the world go 'round, and that's all most people will ever strive for in their lives.

Sometimes. But then so are lay people.

What do you think...if they weren't they probably wouldn't be big because another company would come along that is greedy and take everything from them.

Large corporations have one ethic they live by: maximizing returns to stockholders.

Yes, but not any more so than small companies would be as well given access to the same resources. Business is business.

Tom
I guess it would depend on whether you work for one or not. Also, whether or not you invest in them.
