Do you think companies have taken there right to protect their employes from verbal abuse thing to far?
Additional Details I mean in the way that when you raise a complaint they use the fact they use that protection to verbally abuse you but you cant do anyhting.Its the complaint system turned around1
having worked in various public service industries, i applaud the fact that employees are being protected - it can be soul destroying hearing abused being hurled at you time after time. imagine walking down the street and random strangers insulting you in the most base of terms just cos they'd had a crappy day?? not nice and completely uncalled for.

No - people are losing the ability to put forward an argument without the need to resort to verbal abuse.
If you cant speak without swearing, even after talking to a complete moron for 5 minutes, then dont bother talking at all.
Learn to put forward you argument and then if you dont the required results learn how to progress the complaint up the ladder to supervisors/managers.

Companies have only taken things as far as litigators have taken things against them. Companies, by and large, aren't trying to protect their employees; their protecting their assets. Measures taken are more than reasonably necessary, but litigation is not a reasonable business.

I work in a public facing roll.
I am sick and tired of people shouting and swearing at me. Some people even make it personal.
Then there's the people that throw things at you or threaten to kick your fu@@ing head in if you don't tell them what they want to hear.
The the ones who pretend to be polite but come mob handed with 3 mates and try to intimidate you or tell you that they no where you live and they are going to break into your house and kill you in the middle of the night.
I get at least one like that every day at work.
If anything I think the rules should be tougher.
