Some of the prices are artificially inflated.
However, gas prices in the US are still lower than in most countries. Go to Germany or England and pay the equivilant we pay per gallon for a liter.
I do think that many of the companies are taking advantage of teh recoupment of defense oil reserves and the war against terror in order to boost their profits.
On a final note, though, the war in Iraq was not about oil. If it were, we would be getting oil from Iraq. We are not, yet at least. Much of what excess Iraq is producing is going towards paying their reparations to many countries. |

1) You ain't seen nothin' yet!
2) No (You are being ripped off by yourself. Nobody is forcing you to buy Gasoline)
If you want gasoline prices to drop I suggest you to buy a used Volkswagen with a Diesel Engine (You will save thousands of dollars and you won't buy another gallon of gasoline ever!) |

The oil companies are in business to make money. Just like you at your job, you wouldn't want me to come there and say you are getting paid too much. Why should the oil companies have to make less money to sell you gas at a cheaper price. Its our own fault for becoming so dependent on oil to keep our economy going. If we had alternatives, when they raised the price of gas we could just use something else.
If you think the price of gas is too high, start buying less. You could carpool, take public transportation, walk, consolidate trips to use less gas, etc. If you think the oil companies are making too much money, buy their stock so you can get a piece of it. I wouldn't someone telling me I make too much money, so why should we tell the oil companies what price to charge? |

Yes everyone is being ripped off- however think yourself lucky you are in the US (i presume you are because you called it gas). Over here in N Ireland we are paying at least double what you do. However I do think if people would don't wise up and think of the environmental problems caused by driving those idiotic SUVs I would probably support higher prices for them- as long as the extra money went on environmental projects rather than swelling the bank accounts of those murdering scum who run the companies |

Gas is actually worth ALOT less than we are charged, they have the prices high because they know it doesn't matter to us how high the prices are, we would still buy even if it if it were $15 a gallon. |
