Yes, BP will recover. The sales and profits of this company are large enough to cover the cost of the cleanup. The liablity will likely be shared with all the companies that were involved in the accident. Insurance policies may also cover some of the cost of the damages.
BP's reputation has been seriously hurt but as was the case with Exxon in the Valdez accident, we live in a society where oil is a necessity. The lawsuits will likely run for decades.
For what it's worth this is not the largest oil spill in the Gulf. That happened off Mexico in 1979.

The real question is will the Gulf of Mexico recover. I think it will be decades before the Gulf returns to its pre BP condition. BP will go bankrupt to avoid paying for this damage. The USA should seize BP and its assets immediately to ensure damages are paid.
