johnny | Do you think this BP pipeline thing is an Enron style fix? |
Iʻm concerned that BP is using this failed pipeline thing as a pretext to drive up the price of oil. They recorded 7.3 Billion in profits for only a sector of this year, and yet they canʻt fix a few miles of pipe? |

I agree totally. It is a story that is blown way out of proportion to favor the oil companies. 10 yrs. ago the spill would be monitored while having a new line installed beside it and when they are ready to connect they would shut down for a small time while making the transfer. But the way prices are right now on a bullish market they will use anything to make more profits. GREED |

Previous answers show distaste for the way capitalism is affecting their lives.
Yet, none of us know the truth behind this.
We can only speculate.
This may not be an Enron scandal in the making, but the timing seems rather peculiar.
We need alternatives to kick in, and soon, or else we keep sinking further and further into the abyss.
It's becoming a major concern for the entire economy. |

It does reek, doesn't it?! I suspect the timing was intentional...there hasn't been a hurricane that would raise prices, and the foreign market has been fairly stable, so they needed a new excuse. Crooks. I can't wait for alternate sources to drive them to bankrupcy.......maybe that's a little wishful thinking on my part, though.... |

I saw a History Channel show about that pipeline, and apparently parts of it are very difficult to reach especially if the weather is bad. But I agree, regardless of its actual impact on the oil supply they are going to use it to drive prices skyward. You'd think since they had record profits last year they could absorb a little of that increase without passing it on to the consumer, but of course they won't. |
