Here is the bigger issue. What does Chrysler have to offer. See Chrysler as Ford is a older company. It is saddled by huge work forces that retired. Chrysler, like Ford & GM started in the 1920's. People in the US are living longer. To cut day to day costs many employees were asked to take early retirment. The Asian companies do not have these issues yet. They all started post WWII. If Mercedes could not turn Chrysler profitable who can? The bigger issue is FORD. I sit and wonder when the Ford family will wake up and retake control of the company and make cars that people actually want. They make decent cars, just not ones any one wants. The only thing that makes Toyota what it is today is Marketing and a younger work force. Until the big 3 can figure out what to do with their huge retirement cash drain they are doomed. They can not afford to spend money on Marketing, new plants or R&D. Just look at the stock reports and cash flow statements for all three companies and you will see what I am taking about. You will see where all the cash is going. I think the Ford family has to rethink the top executives pay plan as well. Bonues paid for no profit. Thats some strange new math. When ever i worked for them if the division did not make a profit no one received a bonus not even the top brass. I think the best thing that could happen to Chrysler is Ford make a deal with Mercedes for a division swap. Let Ford take what they want in Chrysler. Give Ford back what Ioccoa stole many years ago . Have Ford give Mercedes Volvo, Jaguar and Astin Martin to Mercedes. That way every one will have companies in their own back yard to run not 5000 miles away. |

Nope, as a serious investor. I wouldn't go near it, because of the labor unions. The labor unions are agianst any deal, and yet not one deal has been offered. See how stupid the unions are?. |
