The employee discount is 10%. I shop there for most of my stuff. Wal-Mart is hard to beat in terms of prices, and we studied their business model in graduate school.
Big fan of Wal-Mart! Hope you like it there. Please do not unionize, as that will corrupt WMT's business model, as it has every other business where unions form. Unions are corrupt. They will take money from your paycheck, but not provide you with any better benefits than Wal-Mart was already giving you anyway. And you can't advance personally in the job without union approval. I was a member of the NTEU when I worked for the U.S. Treasury. Unions are outdated in today's marketplace. They also make American firms less competitive against overseas products and services, because American prices are higher due to unionization, and quality is lower. Just my rant against unions.
But remember, there are always better jobs out there and you can count on WMT as good experience for your future career.

I think it is only 10%. A friend worked there in the late 90s.
Good luck to you this is a hard job. They are big watchdogs about "time theft" so don't be caught being lazy on the job.
Additionally they will work you 38 hours just so you aren't full time and they don't have to give you benefits.
Don't let them take advantage of you.

i got a nephew working at walmart and a 2nd cousin. good going. hopefully your off to bigger and better things. i agree dont unionize. they suck, and they are only for their friends. your better off just coming to work and doing your job well. then you can progress without alot of buddy, buddy union thing going on. i do not buy union. but i do try to always buy american. like my non union toyota was made in america.
