Do you work for Tesco, Asda or Morrisons?
Can you tell me how strict they are on Company Uniform can you wear what you want? (different coloured trousers etc..) Are you allowed nose studs or false nails. Do different Managers change the Policy to what they believe is trendy

simplesimon
I have done, and they are relatively 'strict' in terms of dress code by your standards.

On the one hand its a customer facing environment, and they are all concerned about their image and brand. Which will likely mean that you will have to wear the same colour trousers (even the same cut in more strict stores), black shoes, and only a small nose stud.

There is also a health a safty element to it, meaning things like false nails will not be allowed, and again things like shoes will be an issue.

Managers certainly don't change uniforms due to what's 'trendy'! Uniform is something decided centrally, by people more important that glorified shelf stackers who manage departments. I am fairly sure what their teenage employees think is trendy will soon look very dated, and not be particularly agreeable to the general public :)

That said, there are strores, and there are managers, where standards are more lax.

as for the uniform they like you to wear black shoes black trousers/skirt white blouse with a tie sort of thing if your on checkouts you wear a flowered tabbard and a jacket if its cold anywhere else IE fresh food prep wear baseball hats and white body warmers but the base is always the same white shirt supplied by them black trousers and black shoes no facial piercing small earrings OK dyed hair no problem

Aim higher, go for a better job than a supermarket retail. A friend of mine used to work at Tesco, she said they were a good employer. No comment about uniform/piercings/nails.

hi. morrisons on the night shift allows you to ware what you like as you are not mixing with the public. but though the day its uniform. yellow badge when learning after 3 months of training go to white badge. hope it helps.

All companies that have a uniform policy will apply their rules for uniforms. the best thing to do is to ring the store ask for personnel and then discuss the matter with them.

I used to work for Tesco, i wore the shirt but i refused the trousers. The sizes were awful, usually I'm an 18 but a size 24 trouser didn't fit me. I wore my own smart black ones although their trousers are navy.
As for piercings and that, many people had nose studs and tongue piercings and as I was living in Essex at the time everyone bar me had false nails!
I'm not sure about the other 2 but Tesco were quite lenient

nana .know it all
when you are at work your time and appearance belong to the company so whatever policy is in place you will have to comply
