I suppose they can certainly compel you to show a receipt.
It's certainly a comment on business and the fact that they neither trust or value their customers. I always feel insulted when someone checks my receipt. The company likes me enough to sell me $100 worth of their crap but I can not be trusted enough that they have to check my receipt at the door??

Yes they have the right to see that you are not jacking their stuff. If you dont show them they can get suspicious and call the police and than the police will ask to see.

Just show them the damn piece of paper and make them happy. Besides...why would you want to shop at Kmart for anyways???

Even if you do steal from them...I think the item with the most value in there is probably a 100$ bike which you couldnt even put in your pocket and walk out with anyway!
They should be ashamed stopping their customers at the door.

Every retailer has the right to verify that the merchandise that you are carrying out of the store has been paid for. If you choose not to show it, you may be detained.

yeah wal-mart does they want to see if you stealing their chinese crap if you so worried about it stop shopping at wal-mart and find a store that sells American made good. Be American buy American
