Does Megavideo limit the amount of time you can watch a video?
We've been using Megavideo for weeks but today when watching films, we got this message:

"You have watched 121 minutes of video today. Please wait 119 minutes or click here to enjoy unlimited use of Megavideo"

Now it's asking for us to subscribe to a premium service, but i was always led to believe it is free to watch videos, we've not had any problems before and even the page the message links to says non-members can play videos, they just can't upload videos, will recieve adverts and won't have their videos prioratized. Any ideas?

sigh.

now that is not a smart move by megavideo.

here are some reasons why.

since they seem to be using this method..
they can get sued. Why? because of maybe the possibility of movies being posted on megavideo.

and megavideo is going to be recieving money from that.

that wouldnt be a problem if they were working with the movie makers.

another thing would be losing viewers.

the idea of people moving to other sites might occur due to having to pay now. which yes, is obviously bad for them if this percentage is huge.

which obviously also would be losing advertising.

on a different note...ever wonder why everytime u watch a movie on megavideo you always end up clicking an advertising link?

I mean you click the play button. then it says its buffering. then you have to click it again, and it always seems the only the first time will you always get ported to the same advert.

Whether you click the advert or not..;as how they get money is beyond me.

I think it is a good idea that they do have the buffer thing going on but the adverts??

I was searching to find out the same thing. This was the first time it had happened to me(being blocked after a certain amount of time of watching). I wonder how many ijits will fold and pay them to watch videos on their site. $10 for a month?? $200 premium membership? Do they seriously know who their audience is???

I know I won't be putting anything on their site anymore till they quit doing that.

I just experienced the same thing, but after 61 minutes of watching good will hunting. I dont get it, i watched the whole of forgetting sarah marshall yesterday, and it worked fine. Is it something thats happened today or what? I know this isnt an answer, but im just confirming that your not alone. My only thoughts could be that its a system change, and they are limiting peoples viewing time. But judging by the difference in the amount of time that we watched, it seems a bit strange as they are both 2 different times, so the limit surely couldnt be random?

I do not know what is going on either. I have the same issue as of today w/ a good history of watching videos on that site for a LONG time. I tried resetting cache cookies and so forth, nothing, renewed ip, and nothing..so I do not know a way around it yet, but I am looking cause after "clicking" on the link they give you, I am not going to pay for a service that well,...shouldn't be payed for and their TOS states free membership just gets adverts and so forth.

GAAA!!! i am so pissed off! half way through the movie, it stops! grrrrrr. yeah so apparently all of the sudden they have decided to start charging us. come on! i dont think there is any real way of getting around it. I've seen some people say "restart your internet connection" but that seriously kills the whole "movie" experiance! i guess we will just have to find another site. I've been trying, but most sites only have links to megavideo. how do they expect to to compete with youtube when they are charging people? if youtube starts charging... i dont even want to think about that! grrrrrrr.... like i said, i am super pissed.

abbigirl1234
i found the same thing... not sure what they r playing at. my choice is to use utube or
www.fanpop.com which has alot of shows on it. Also
www.free-tv-video-online.info for films and programmes
or www.watch-movies.com for films.

Only obvious prob is that some links on the latter two may be in 'mega video format.

I'm not English (I'm Italian :P) and my english isn't good :(
But I think that I have found a solution for your problem.
If you disconnect and reconnect your pc, so the counter of MB in your computer is reset.
After you must adjourn the web page and the film start again!

Sorry for my english :(
I hope that my answer helped you!
Bye!!

If you don't like the service use another one; legal option.
