Does Starbucks hire Baristas only or are there other positions available?
Does Starbucks hire Baristas only or are there other positions available? I am a coffee freak & i frequent many of my local Starbucks locations all the time. The other day one of the Baristas that frequently makes my coffee suggested i apply there and gave me an application.

Now what i want to know is: does everyone they hire have to go through Barista training, or can i just be trained to cashier & mark the cups , as the role of a Barista looks a bit too stressful too me- and i have a wierd love for working on register.

So basically can i be hired as a cashier?
Thanks.

I work for Starbucks.. been there for about 4 months now. After handing in an application and getting hired, your title is officially "Barista". As a Barista, your job is to work on the floor as a cashier and the person who makes the drinks. It is your shift supervisor who will appoint what you do during the shift. He/she rotates the baristas to different positions over the course of the shift.

Being on the bar isn't too bad. You get used to it. The drinks are simple once you get into the flow of things.

The rankings are as follows: Barista, Shift Supervisor, Assistant Manager, Manager, District Manager, then Corporate...

Hope I was able to answer your question. Good luck!

i worked for starbucks at one point and time in my life as far as where i am from you gotta basically do it all they get too busy to fuss over what your hired to do, and with you not being versatile if they did they won't keep ya long and they will start to train you to make that joe baby!!!

Nope, u have to be cross trained so that you may assume the position of a barista if the need arises.

I am sure that is not out of the question. Certainly the first step is getting your foot in the door (completing the application and going for the interview), at which point this would be an excellent question to ask your hiring manager. It would not benefit you to express stress as a factor as it may decrease your chances of actually being considered for the position at all.
