When the nonprofits pocketbook is slight, Myself and my life partner pays its bills. Only this past month we overlooked one of our personal bills Verizon disconnected the Caller ID and Out of state Long Distance around the time of my birthay dec. 3. On Dec 22 and 23 I phoned them begger they release the long that I can place my out of state Long distance on a company had been with for 15 years.
When Verizon learnt that I had in state calling, they remided that oversight. The disconected out going state long distance on that line.
Most people do not know this refusing to release the line, could be an illlegal act by the gaint corporation. There are laws which provide telecommunication companys the same forums to seek repayment as any other Creditor Holding the line Hostage should not be one of them.
I am asking If you think it is more Grinch-Like for a phone company to turn off the phone line or a non-profit providing a helpful service? |

Yes, I agree, but it is hardly surprising. Verizon is a huge mega-corporate behemoth these days. They lure a lot of customers in by offering cheap DSL rates, but they do not provide even half way decent support for their services. For them, it's all about the money and they care nothing about charity or good works. |

Verizon is not in the non-profit business. They are in business to make a profit. If one does not pay their bills, then Verizon or any other corporation for that matter is not obligated to continue providing services. Wouldn't we all like to get goods and services for free?
Consider that with any utility the consumer uses the service before paying for it. It's like getting a month's advance in services for free! Verizon doesn't owe any charity anything. |

well u have to look at it from Verizons side. yes u are providing assistance for others, but they cant afford to just let everyone not pay their bills. thats how they make money. i worked for them for a while and they ussually let stuff slide if u have decent credit. but once u start letting it slide every month they start cutting the slack. so if this is a regular thing then that might be part of the problem also. |

The phone company for turning off the non-profit organization phone. But the way you make it sound is that it was also used for personal use, as you said that you overlooked your personal bill from Verizon. And they are just doing their job. |
