Does anyone know what the "K" in K-Mart stands for? Dumb question I know, but my curiousity is killin me.
It was originally founded in 1899 in Detroit as S.S. Kresge Company. Over time, of course, it was simplified to Kmart which also better reflected the mergers it went through.

Hummm Kmart was founded by Sebastian Kresge, so I would assume that since it was the S.S. Kresge Corporation that named it, it is because it was founded by "Kresge".
