Door Sales.............?
Dont you think Salespeople (who come knocking) should be taught that if the occupier is obviously busy, kids and babies crying or screaming they should apologize and say they will try another time.

Ive just had a gas/electric salesman at my door, you could smell we were in the middle of lunch, my toddler was moaning she wanted a juice and my baby was crying becuase he was wanting his lunch back!!! and it took me 6 attempts (10 minutes) to get through to this man that now obviously wasnt a good time and even so im happy with the energy provider im with, he was so rude he didnt wanna hear any of it, i ended up shutting the door, do you think its worth making a complaint?

I know its their job but really, they should have some common sense about when's not a good time!

Tell them you've just changed to them and the paperwork mustn't have gone through yet, always works for me!

Apart from that tell them its rented housing or put a 'no sale persons' sign on the door. I agree they are really rude and just won't leave you alone, I was babysitting my 1 year old niece and a red cross man came asking for money, I even told him it wasn't my house (while he could see i was attempting to stop little one going upstairs by herself) and he still wouldn't leave me alone saying I could still donate and give my address. Get the hint!!!

Hope the little ones enjoyed their lunch!

I had NPower round despite a notice on the door telling various folk they are NOT welcome. There was a pair of them and the lead sales said, We are not selling anything, so I smiled sweetly and said, Good for you!" and closed the door. It works. Also ask them if you have to get into conversation, if they have registered with the local police station that they will be door canvassing in the area. It used to be a requirement - don't know if it still is. These folk can be a real pain.

If they really don't take a hint, or if you don't feel up to closing the door in their faces ( it takes practice) tell them, "I'M ON A METER/CARD" - works like a charm, you won't see them for dust.

You should feel no obligation to listen to a salesperson's pitch or feel that you have to explain why it is that you are not interested. When it happens at my door I just say "No thanks, I'm not interested" and close the door. They simply move on the house next door.

You haven't leart yet - Salesmen for Double glazing - House is rented - bye bye.

Tree felling/Trimming - I do it myself

Bible bashers - I worship Satan

Gas and Utility salesmen - Bugger Off - only language they understand - they are commission paid and so rely on the 'stress' factor during the day - that's why they do it - so that you'll sign up quickly.

I get my own back as I used to be a salesperson. When they start there spiel I hit them with my old one. It throws them and they go away.

They know...but they are just trying to make some money to live on.
Try the reverse approach, tell them you sell such and such and maybe they'd be interested in what you have. Most are too busy so they tell you maybe another time.
I've always got rid of them that way, some leave speechless..never to return. They don't want to be pitched to.
