Economic situation of Ford Motor Company?
OK I'm doing a project for econ and I don't know where to find the info. My projects on Ford and I have to answer the following questions:
1. Are they planning on changing the way they do business? How is their business going to change? Why do you think they are going to change?
2. Find share holder information on their websites, See where their revenue streams from. How are they panning on growing?
3. Pretend you are in charge of the company. What do you plan to do to make the company more profitable? What will you change? How will you begin doing business in the future?

Any answers, sites, opinions, etc. would be appreciated... : )

1. They say they will, but they won't.

3. I would do the following:

I would give the car/minivan division to Mazda. I think Mazda has a much better chance against the likes of Honda and Toyota

I would have Ford stop producing cars altogether and produce only trucks and SUV's.

(Exceptions to this would be the Mustang and Crown Vic--for police use.)

Shelf the Mustang for now. The average person isn't interested in a Mustang, and Ford should concentrate on vehicles the average person wants. It can bring the Mustang back at a later date once profits permit.

Dump the SVT vehicle team

Stop producing stupid, useless crap like the Ford GT. Again produce cars the average person can afford and wants to buy.

Sell or dump the Mercury Division

Sell or dump Land Rover

Sell or dump Volvo

Get rid of the UAW altogether. No union workers.

No management bonuses for the next 5 years.

No one at the company, regardless of position, or time with the company shall make more in one calendar year than $100,000. At least for the next five years and the company is profitable again. And no going back after that time and paying people retroactively.

Get rid of 25-30% of the current dealer network.

I would have to say yes to the first question, it is obvious that if Ford is part of the big three then there is going to have to be change in the future of the motor company.
Second, there is stock channel's that have the ups and downs that are going on pretty much every day because of the notoriety of the bail out from the American People.
and Thirdly, I would say that if I was in charge, I would build on what built the company in the first place and that was building something that the People needed to get around in and do it in such a way that would appeal to the most with the bucks that are going to buy today.
Also to price the vehicle so people can afford them without putting the People in debt until they can't drive anymore.

I would also state that the people are the customers and not the bank so don't ask for a handout to the American People they are the ones who already paid into the banks at 18% or better to buy those overly priced cars and trucks in the first place. Now those same companies are pleading for more money because they don't know how to buy a cheaper yacht or mansion in the bahama's.

They will make smaller cars.
Find the shareholder info in Barron's Magazine or Wall Street Journal (free at the library) before checking out the Ford website so it is more understandable.
I would take the $13 Billion from the Ford Foundation and put it back into the company..

ok... Wiki is a good source of historical and news of recent years.

Then there is the CNN.com business section where they are talking about whether the big three are getting bailouts. In those articles (go back a few related ones) you can find what plans and actions Ford is going to take.
