spider_lily32 | Enhanced employees got screwed...need sponsorship? |
I and about 800 other people were hired to work at Dalimer-Chrysler as 2 year contract employees. Well, most of us havent even made it 6 months before we got laid off or fired. We have a lawyer and need to raise money so that we can afford the lawyer. Alot of peoples lives have been destroyed by this and some of us have came from the other side of the United States and/or quit our jobs that we had for 10 or more years. What we need to know is how do we get sponsorship to raise the money to sue them |

Depending in what city you're in,most of them have a free legal aid that not only provides free legal advise but free legal help in most matters. Look in your yellow pages and see in they are listed. Good luck. Also, you can go in person to the Department of Labor - Wage and Hour Division and tell them in detail what happened especially since all of you were contracted employees. |

my understanding is that contract employees are hired with the understanding the job could end abruptly The ones I know can have contract ended pretty much anytime.
it sounds like a sad situation to me... but unless they actually broke policy or promises made... I don't know what you can do. |

Do you even have good grounds to fight this battle? They will put you off so long that you will never win. Or it will cost you so much money that you will regret it. Since you are a contract employee, you won't have too much backing. Usually, those contracts are pretty tough to beat. I'm sorry to hear that you are in undesirable situation, but you should move on. D.C knew what they were doing and it is sad thing to see that firms these days have no commitment toward their employees.
If you are trying to go through with it. First, you should get all the supports from 800 employees and convince them to pay some money. I don't think people will sponsor you unless you can find a lawyer who is willing to take your case without money up front. You can contact Labor rights groups to take your case, but it is not likely. "The International Labor Rights Fund" can be one to help you, but I wouldn't be sure.
I hope everything works out for you. |

Sue them for what? you are an at risk employee like most of the employees in this country. When you were hired and signed on they told you that you could be fired or laid off at the employers discretion. The company is making no money and nobody is buying their products. They have no work and no money to pay you. This happens all the time and instead of wasting your money and energy in sueing them and eventually having it thrown out of court, pick yourself up and move on.
If you have a union then consult them. If you don't then just move on, nothing will ever come of it, especially suing them. |

There is a reason your attorney want to be paid rather than work on a contingency. It is because the case is a loser. You say you are a contract employee, read your contract.
WHat are you going to argue, reliance? good luck with that. |
