Essay on Wal-Mart?
I need a four page essay(double spaced) about Wal-Mart
In your letter, you should address the following two topics:
• How does Wal-Mart utilize the characteristics of a capitalistic economic system?
o Profit motive
o Competition
o Economic freedom
o Voluntary exchange
o Markets
o Private property
• Is Wal-Mart good for America?
o Who is helped by Wal-Mart?
o Who is hurt by Wal-Mart?

As you write a letter to your local newspaper, remember to:
 Focus on the issue of how Wal-Mart fits the characteristics of capitalism and the effects it has on America.
 Consider the purpose, audience, and context of your letter.
 Organize your letter so that your ideas progress logically.
 Include relevant details that clearly develop your letter.
 Edit your letter for standard grammar and language usage.
with all that stuff

please help :)

Here's a tip: do your own damn homework like everyone else.

JeffK
Any why would we do your homework for you?

John L. L
Go to the Google search engine. Type in each of the questions in Part 1 of your assignment. When Google responds, choose the Wikipedia link.

For part 2, do it yourself. No-one can do this for you - just like no-one can play tennis or eat dinner for you.

Leftyizme
I'm not writing a 4 page essay for you, are you joking!?
Go do your own homework.

Small companies are put out of business if they aren't able to compete. That's life, and they have to deal with it. My Dad's business was slowly killed by competition with larger chains, but I'm a realist, and we adapted. (Hint: that's one thing the human race is supposed to be good at: adaptation).

In our neighborhood, a new Wal Mart is being built. At first we were concerned, thinking it would be constructed within a couple blocks of our house. The traffic and noise would detract from our enjoyment of our home.
When construction began, roughly a mile away, we were quite relieved, and think that our property value will now increase with a large retail center nearby (but not TOO close).
Of course, the folks who live in that area aren't entirely pleased.

You can dig up good and bad, pro and con, promoters and detractors, for anything.
Walmart is able to compete aggressively because it's more economical to purchase goods in large numbers, and they're able to pass that savings on to the customers. This is a good thing, and businesses like ours had to bow out, unless they offer a real premium that can't be offered by a big chain, like extraordinary service, atmosphere, and the like.

There are other areas where knowledgeable customers shun the big stores. If you're looking for a good bicycle, it's a given among the better educated cyclists that Walmart is assuredly the LAST place you want to go. A local bike shop will offer a level of service and quality that it's impossible for Walmart to match. That's only one example, and I'm sure there are others. In the end, it's up to the individual consumer to educate themselves, and to tailor their shopping for their own benefit.
We go to Walmart for groceries and simple consumer goods (shampoo, kitchen supplies, etc) and we'll go to specialty shops for our bicycle supplies and parts.

Use yahoo search and type the following; Sam's Club 6625 and Tom Coughlin

Wal-Mart is like all businesses making money for the owners and in Wal-Mart's case the majority shareholders is the Walton Family around 61+%. They say that they have to respond to the shareholders as to why they do not give good raises.

Target, K-Mart, Sears, and many others are just as bad as Wal-Mart when it comes to pay and benefits. Vons and similar give about 4 hours of work per day so they are forced to have another job elsewhere.

Sam's Club 6625 are trying to eliminate those that have been there over 16+years and work full-time with as many part-time employees.

Will congress investigate the practice on how people are being fired and rehired at a lower pay? I doubt it.
