Ex boss called new boss?
ex boss called new boss to say that he did not want me to work in his area, because of conflict of interest and personnel issues. I resigned in good standings and work for an employer that
has business in same area as ex boss.

Huh? More information...... what are you asking?

your ex boss has no right to dictate your new job. you aren't under his control anymore and he shouldn't affect your business. it's not his.

That's against the law . He cannot give and or do anything about it. He also cannot legally give any infromation out about you only that you were employed there. I know I am a boss.

Celine
What is your question? Is it legal? Did you sign any kind of noncompetition or non-solicitation agreement? If so, the terms of that may prevent you from working in your ex-boss' area. In addition, so long as he didn't say anything untrue about you, he can call your new boss and talk about your work, etc. If he said untrue things that lead to damages (fired, lowered pay, forced to work a worse location), you might have a claim for slander.

Barry auh2o
When you applied for the job, did you sign an agreement that you wouldn't work for a competitor in your former employer's area?? Chances are you did, and your ex-boss has every right to object , in fact, he would have the right to file a lawsuit if you brought the customers from your old co over to your new co.
