Exxon-Mobil PROFITS $45,000,000,000 a year. Is this price gouging?

It's unbridled capitalism.

Exxon's Valdez destructed parts of Alaska in 1989.

They paid fines of about two billion dollars.

Today, they rake in profits of over forty billion dollars per year.

Don't you think this top earning corporation should be held to the fire on issues involving the environment?

Why are they given a free pass to do as they please?

Their refining margins, along with other top producers, are at an all time high.

The answer to this is that every single person paying through the nose at the pump needs to write or phone their Congressman, explaining that if nothing is done about this abuse, you won't vote them in next go-round.

Sure they are making hay while the sun shines. There is so much that is a part of what profits are and how to account for them. The expression that figures never lie but liars figure is true. It is just sooo difficult to take a number and say that it is too high or too low. If the oil costs are accounted for by Last in First out then their inventory is rising with the cost of the oil that they are selling. If exploration has been written off over the life of the oil well, then the rise and falling of gas has immediate effects. Who knows without looking at the information. That is the problem with looking only at one number.

Tell me, where on their 10k does it show this? What were their retained earnings last year? Was this pre-tax profit?
Since you're such an expert,it would be nice of you to save me the trouble of looking this up. You do know what a 10K is,don't you??
