For those who hate wal-mart... what do you hate about it?
Sure, there are more things to hate about it than can easily be counted, but what do you personally abhor about walmart?

ONLY THOSE WHO HAVE A GRIPE NEED POST. IF YOU LIKE WALMART, THEN THIS QUESTION ISN'T FOR YOU. MOVE ALONG.

Sure, everything they sell is made in China and is ultimately hurting our economy, but I hate how they sell cheap models of what you really want. Their stores are always messed up and out of what I want. I guess their logistics aren't as good as they claim it to be.

Wal-mart is a big impersonal store with crowded isles. The warehouse feel is something else that is unappealing. I know they are now trying to compete with Target and etc. But they are too cheap to pull that one off. Finally, their merchandise is of poor quality and they do not treat their employees as well as they could.

This is Communist China's front store.

Each time you buy something rock-bottom cheap ("we sell for less") you are putting another nail into America's economic coffin. No, we CANNOT compete with workers who make 60 cents an hour.

poor quality merchandise that doesnt last

shabby stores with crowded aisles, I dont like wading through a mass of people just to shop.

poor customer service.

bad labor practices, like hiring illegals, paying the lowest wages possible, not having affordable health care for their employees, forcing employees to work unpaid overtime, not allowing employees to work more than 30 hours a week so they dont qualify as full time and appropriate benefits, firing people who even thing about starting a union, shutting down stores that try to unionize, just too much to list here.
Did you know they actually give new employees classes on how to apply for food stamps and medicaid? They know they wont pay them enough that they will quailify. That means WE get stuck paying for this out of our taxes.

I try to avoid walmart because of the business during the peak hours. Unfortunately, walmart's peak hours are from very early in the morning until midnight or even later. I have gone to the store at 3am to find the crowds and parking better, but only one or two registers opened with usually a long wait to check out. I have also found many aisles shut down in the middle of the night for washing and waxing of the floors. Even though walmart has great prices, shopping there is usually a huge hassle, and not worth the few cents I will save just to avoid the aggravation.

i USE to like wal-mart till it became a "super" store....sorry i don't need to buy my socks and steaks in the same store......at the same time.....

The happy faces are the only nice thing they have.
First have you ever seen there employees smile, not including gram-pa at the door he's smiling because he just peed his pants and its the only warm thing he received inside the Wall mart store.
Do I really have to cross town to save 2 cents and contribute to a conglomerate like that.

I got here because I was looking @ your (Brian_Sefars) profile & wanted to see what ? you where asking.

I do visit Wal-Mart @ as last resort when all other local stores (like Target) do not have what I am looking for. There prices are just barely lower than the competitors & some of the lower prices are deceiving in that the products are not exactly the same.

They are very much like the 'fat cat monopolist' of the early 1900' in that they come into a area and under bid ( loose $ ) in order to drive out competitors then raise prices to make up the loses later.

The Waltens are Multi-Billionares but do not seem to be able to care for their employees enough to pay them enough so that they do not need government assistance.

There are several references above to the general practices of Wal-Mart.
How true they are I do not really know but the left wing media does not speak well of them & I trust the left wing media a little more than the right wing media that seems to like walmart.

Does honesty count?
Is it worth best answer?
There are certainly some very good answers above.I like the 1st one about being a store front for Communist China.
Was this a survey to see what some people might say.
When you give best answer please include a reason for the question

I personally hate their stores (I don't care about their corporation) because their stores are a total mess! The stores are chaotic, confusing, disordered, disorderly, haphazard, jumbled, messed up, mixed up, muddled, mussed up!
They have pallets of merchandise in the middle of the aisles, the rows are crowded, they play Mexican music and make announcements in Spanish, it's loud, messy, and frankly, I don't find it a very pleasant way to spend my time or money.

I like calm, organized, CLEAN stores.

My problem with Wal-Mart is those damnable self-service islands. I have a problem with those things every time I buy more than 5 items.

What's wrong with Wal-Mart?
It ships good-paying jobs overseas while paying poverty wages at home, costs taxpayers billions of dollars to subsidize its workers, fights unions, hurts local businesses and isn't fair to women. And their prices aren't even that low.

Mariposa
My current pet peeve with Wal-Mart is in regards to the self-checkout registers. I don't understand why they are closed at certain times or why some, but not all are open. (It's because someone isn't there to monitor them, but I thought the point of it from a company cost savings perspective was to install them and save money by cutting back on staff.)
