A friend of mine has been working part time for a popular British clothes shop (not named) since July 2007, and as of October 15th, has still not been paid.
This, I am told, is down to a series of mistakes made by the managers, of which my friend has so far had 3, submitting incorrect bank account details to their external payroll company.
Two weeks ago, the manager at the time called this company and found that my friend's money was hours away from being transferred into the wrong account. The details were amended, and the payroll company promised that the money would reach my friend's account in a maximum of ten days time.
After fifteen days, the manager called payroll again, and the news this time was that the details were still incorrect, and that the cutoff date for changing details was three days ago. They say that because of this, the money (around £800) should be paid next Friday, October the 26th.
Is there anything we can do to get them to pay up, or compensate?
