Getting something from an Ebay seller shipped from a store and not the seller?
My friend bought an item off ebay, she had seen the picture the seller posted of it and liked it and all the details made it seem like the seller owned this item and was selling it. When it arrived it did not come from the person she bought it from...it was shipped to her address directly from walmart! She looked it up online and found out the seller got more than it would have cost her to buy it on walmart.com (which had she known she would have just bought it at walmart)

It would be one thing if this person was reselling an item they bought from walmart and never used, but this was shipped FROM WALMART, with walmart as the return address. It was like she bought it from the person and then they just bought it off walmart and had is shipped to her and pocketed the extra cash.

I'm just wondering if its legal or within ebays terms of service to do this...it doesn't seem like it should be. She's already contacted ebay and given the seller a bad rating, I was just wondering if this had happened to anyone else?

Sorry i should have added the detail that the seller did NOT state it would be coming from a third party when listing the item or completing the sale...that is what I'm wondering, if that is allowed or not

It is NOT legal to do this, I'm a former walmart employee and know for a fact it's not, a seller could get in a lot of trouble. I'd get a refund, no demand a refund, and rebuy the item at walmart. Possibly contact Walmart, was their an invoice enclosed? And, show them what you paid for it.
Sellers do, do this all the time, to make extra money, to find, no offense, dumb buyers like your friend who doesn't shop around first. They do it all the time with Walmart and Amazon purchases.
But, it's not legal!

Buyer beware..all questions should be asked prior to bidding. A seller does not deserve a neg. due to a bidder's lack of attention to detail. It is fully legal..and it never ceases to amazing me how many people fall for this kinda thing.

No one forced her to bid. I pay too much every day and hardly ever complain.

Kay
Yes it's legal. In our system of free market under capitalism, it's "Buyers beware." Ebay cannot possibly monitor every little product their sellers post. The co. has a waiver on their contract with buyers and sellers.

She saw the item at a price she was willing to pay, she agreed to buy the item at that price, and she received the item at that price.

The seller did not deserve a bad rating.

Welcome to ebay, many sellers actually ship from third parties, ie walmart, amazon, drop shippers, ect .. . . There is no reason to give negative feedback on something that she agreed on the price and purchased. In my opinion they do the research find a product and sell it on ebay and she liked it, purchased it and found out that they made a profit on it and got mad. Maybe she needs to check around before just buying something off of ebay. Although if Walmart was to find out they could get in trouble, not form ebay, but walmart. Don't give negative feedback on something that was the item that she wanted and arrived quickly and in good condition.

Considering walmart does have a great return policy. Maybe go back to the store and get store credit?

I know that some people use the "drop-ship" method from Amazon, too. I would like to hear what eBay has to say about it....Please post it once you hear back.
