Got interview at Lidl next week but am put off by the bad reviews the company has got.?
Can anyone tell me what they are really like to work for?I am not afraid of hard work but I expect to be appreciated and respected by my employer.Hoping someone with experience with this company can advise me.
Lidl do not pay minimum wage, however they do demand alot of work as these stores are under-staffed and over worked purposely as it keeps costs down for the consumers.
It depends on what you are expecting in terms of appreciation and respect, your role will cover everything on the shop floor from serving to stock keeping, it won't be rare of you to be the only person on the main floor in 'low-peak' times, switching from stocking up to serving people and feeling stretched. If you like varierty and hard work you'll enjoy it. If you want to stick to one thing, then I don't think this is the job for you.
bugaboo
Go upmarket then, and approach Waitrose.

I expect you will get the minimum wage, no more, and be expected to work early, late and weekend shifts for no more pay. In other words, the same as any other supermarket job. They do have a high turnover of staff at Lidl, which begs the question why.

Like supermarkets, there are good and bad.
If it is the only job you can get, stick it out and keep your nose clean for a few months. Looks good on your CV. that you have had a job.
Hypocrite
I don't work there, but I respect those that manage to. Some people seem happy and some look miserable. I remember watching the manager of my local store be verbally assaulted by the area manager on the shop floor. It was totally humiliating for him.
Long hours and generally over-worked. Quite stressful I'm sure.

Lidl have a bad name as far as it goes , but saying that it is a job . And nothing says that you can't use that to get a better one.
