Has America lost it's edge in Software and IT sector?
All the manufacturing infrastructure has moved to China and India - only the R&D is being continued in the US, whereas all the labour and enginnering is being done in those Asian countries (so naturally more and more jobs are being offshored). And in China and India it's not like a bubble - because the infrastructure has already been set up and it will take several decades before any downturn would have to occur.

On the other hand, almost all technologies that become big in the US, always bubble up until they burst in a few years & their technological edge is lost - look at the car industry: Detroit was big once, but ever since it burst did it come back yet? look at the steel industry, look at the power sector - the same fate. Similarly, the software industry was booming recently, but the bubble has burst & software industry won't be able to make a comeback in the US - it will prosper in Asia where the infrasturcture has already been established.

What are your thoughts on this?

yes because that is one of the US policy.

Not at all...They still are the leaders in the world. Cant u still imagine why people particularly from INDIA prefer to work in US? and why cant they work in India. So only money making is important for them and dont care about improving our country's status isnt it. And you come here asking that AMERICA lost its edge hahaha, what a joke... AMERICA WILL NEVER LOSE ITS EDGE

The problem with USA is that it's an open market and unlike Europe or Asia who can put regulations on the economy when things are downsliding which in turn helps them recover from their losses and gain back the cutting edge, the American economy is too liberal and that's why it's difficult to make a comeback.

Now they are saying Biotech is going to be the next bubble in America (especially in San Diego and LA), but it will probably only last for 5-10 years and then it will also burst

India's IT industry is just 2% of the global IT services industry (primarily US). And India is already overwhelmed with that amount of work with all the infrastructure (that you are talking about) crippling.
Knowledge industries like IT/bio-tech are not actually that easy to move. It's only the mundane job that can actually be outsourced and not the cutting edge ones. The way America attracts the most talented from everywhere it is not actually that easy to replace it.

It is really hard to compete with countries that have more people and fewer regulations around safety, human rights, environmental standards, best practices, etc....

We have to face it. India and China are the fastest developing economies in the world and America cannot hope to dominate the world in everything for always. As it is America cannot even control or stabilize the Dollar.which in itself is pathetic. China and India and other Asian countries offer cheap labour and having top companies in the States establishing their production plants in Asia to minimize the rising cost of production is a sensible move. One cannot expect the Asians to be in the shadows of countries like the States for ever but must address their own issues.
