Has anyone ever heard of the home based business YTB Travel and Cruises and does it make a profit or not.?

I have always wanted to work from home, and it makes since to have a travel website, because almost everyone orders their flight and vaction deals on the computer. Has anyone heard of this is this a scam. The company is listed on the Better Business Bureau Website. I have researched it, and have not found anything bad about the company. The company works with priceline.com, hotels.com and so on.

I've had better luck with other things. I have found several legitimate work at home sites so far, and I made $500+ in October, over $700 in November, $900+ in December, $700+ in January, and over $850 last month. They are free to join.

I am familiar with YTB. They are a multi-level marketing company and they are what is called a "card mill" in the industry. They sell you "travel agent credentials" and a replicated website where you can earn 60% commission on travel booked from your site. They lure is that you can receive travel agent discounts on your own travel, such as fam trips. The truth is that you are not really a travel agent, which requires much more than the $500 up-front and $50 a month that YTB is asking. I can tell you from experience that you will not make much money from selling travel on your site. The 60% commission is based on what the company receives and that is generally a very small amount, for example, you would do well to make a couple of dollars from someone booking a flight on your site. Group travel and Cruises pay a little better. The money is made on the recruiting side and so you'll find yourself promoting the business as your main source of income. Travel is a wonderful industry and there are many other card mills that you should look into for comparison, should you decide to invest your time and money, but be warned that the industry does not favor the card mill operations and the FTC is looking closely at these operations. You will still find many deals for your personal travel, such as 10% off hotel stays, but the industry is getting wise to these operations and fewer opportunities exist today than just a few years ago. So, if it's personal travel you want, then go ahead. You can write of part of your travel expense as business. If you like the whole mlm concept, it's not a bad way to go, but I feel there are better opportunities out there. If you want to sell travel to other people, then you should persue a legitimate path to attain your IATAN credentials and not rely on YTB. If you choose to join YTB, then my advice is to advertise via search marketing. I received an average of 90 inquiries a day while promoting travel for GTTrends. You can also google "home-based travel agents" or visit sites like WorldVentures or GTI or Global Travel Trends to find alternatives to YTB. You'll find the prices vary from one to another. Just be aware that the only way you are going to do well is "sign up" as many people as you can and hope that they do the same. Good Luck on your decision.

My belief system with YTB Travel and Cruises is very high. d I am a Power Team leader with YTB, and I have attended many company events, the National Convention, in St. Louis, last August, have met the 3 owners and co founders of the company, Lloyd Tomer, Scott Tomer, and Kim Sorenson, on numerous occasions. I received some e-mail (spam) from them and a few others. Many charge a small "FEE" to host the web site so be care full, those fees can add up. There are ALLOT of travel sites so you would really have to push yours and that's another area where small "FEES" add up. There are services that will direct surfers to your site. Remember that just because a company is listed with the BBB makes it reputable. If someone complains to the BBB they spent money and didn't make any income that's not YTB's fault. YTB only has to say you didn't try and follow instructions, then the complaint will be dismissed. Also allot of these home travel business' are MLM's, you make money selling sites to other people not being a travel agent. Go to SCAM.COM, YTB is mentioned quite often. SCAM.COM suggest going to a travel agent and talk to them about YTB and any other web agencies who may be soliciting you.
