Has there ever been a bigger or better money making scam than religion?

The BudMiester
No and it`s universal...

Yes--everything thing that comes out of George W. Bush's oil-addicted mouth.

I'd say Global warming.
With the UK government placing Green taxes on everything that they can dream of.

For longevity? No. Nor has there ever been a better "tool" for power grabbing, political and population control. You've got a few people telling millions of others what their moral standards should be, what they should allow in their society, what kinds of persons are and are not acceptable and how someone should live their lives. I've never seen a better form of population control. Religion isn't just for the money. It's also for power and control. There have been more wars fought in the name of, under the pretence/pretext of, religion than anything else. Political "cleansings" too. The Salem Witch Trials were political cleansings under the pretence of religion.

Religion is the only insurance contract not subject to any form of regulation ,at least when you pay your premium for most insurance there will be someone there to complain to if the cover is substandard, religion by the time you find out that you have been paying premiums to the wrong outfit its too late!!! hmm wonder why the church of England is one of the largest landowners in the UK? 400 years is careful investment of their believers premiums lol.

I thought the biggest scam was being a politician. People willingly give you money for no good reason.

NOT BLOODY LIKELY

Hmm, the only other one that I can think of is Corporate Outsourcing...so perhaps, Religion is the biggest pyramid-scheme in the world!

Bingo !!!

Nothing like going to a place to pray, and hand them over some money that they have no clue how to handle. Paying one guy or gal a hefty wage and funding the retirement as well for speaking one hour a week is crazy in MY opinion.

Matthew :6 in the bible even says if you want to pray, go to your own room and close the door. Something I feel alot of people should take to heart.

aaaaaaaaaaaaagh life is good when I keep my money !!

: )

Singapore Sling
Yeah, it's called Microsoft.

gordonmother
Good idea, but you have to wear a collar to get into it.

Yes, look at all of the get rich quick schemes on the Internet. In the US they have commercials every 3 or 5 commercials & they last atleast 3 minutes, seems like eternity. I would say look at the commercials every where but I don't kow if the UK allows this.
