Has this "recession" hit its bottom now or is there worse to come. ?

Additional Details
This is still just a "storm in a tea cup" compaired to the recession of the late 1980,s early 1990,s

We have only started and have a long way (down) to go yet.

Nowhere near bottom! Only just starting.
House prices fell 16% last year, expected to be another 15% this year.

Unemployment is going to rise to 3+million. All you are seeing is the big company problems at present. All these companies small suppliers are being hit and they don't have ability to exist for long, especially as the banks are refusing to lend to anyone other than best risk.
A small efficient company can be turned into a big risk by - for example - Honda stopping production for 4 months and stopping it's orders. A small company cannot exist without cash flow for 4 months unless the bank helps out!
So all of a sudden in a couple of months all these type of firms are going to fail. Which of course means when Honda restarts - it can't as it hasn't got any components!

For the future realise that every family now owes £175,000 for the borrowings taken on by the Government! And that is without the latest bailout!
The £37billion "we" the taxpayers "invested" in the Banks on October is now worth - wait for it - £17 billion. So you and me have just lost 20billion BUT we still have to pay the debt AND the interest on the debt!!
Where is the money going to come from - TAXES! It is the only place the Government can get it from - that is you and me!

I could terrify you further but take consolation from this disaster - you won't be the only one paying for it............your children will carry on for their lifetime.................and then their children - your grandchildren!!!!!!!

Adam
Based on the financial markets expectations of a further interest rate drop some time over the next year, i would say there is still more to come. However if the markets are right then interest rates will be below 2% for the next 2 years.

Most people don't understand why this recession has come about, so it'll be interesting to watch peoples reactions over the coming months, just to make it clear it is very serious and very complicated and nothing like the one on the 80s.

I wonder what, if any this recession will have on globalisation, but that's another question.

my prof said last semester that the worst effects take a year to start being felt. so we could only be at the beginning of it. but then again, how mnay times has a teacher been wrong? lots
