Health Freak
Have you ever written a letter of complaint to a supermarket and got a response ?
Reason why I ask is because I went to Tesco today and I was served by a guy who had a 'can't be bothered attitude'

He did not speak clearly when he told me the total of my shopping, he just mumbled and he looked really fed up.

He did not even wear a name badge and if I am not mistaken, aren't you supposed to.

It is so bad, I actually dread going into the shop if he is on the till because he sees to have his @rse in his hands all the time, I have never seen him smile.

Have you written a letter of complaint and had it followed up?

I have emailed a complaint, yes they said they followed it up - then the manager stated that my problem (not with staff - with the temperature of a cool unit) was unfounded - and they said that solved it & gave me lots of points.

The fact my worry was absolutely correct (stuff from a cool unit was actually frozen when placed in certain positions) was NOT investigated - the manager's word was taken as absolute.

Really all depends on what the manager is like I guess.

It wasn't a supermarket but I wrote to Little Chef about their staff being inefficient and using foul language in front of my children and they were all sacked and replaced.

I have complained a few times to supermarkets and other places - restaurants and such. They've always followed up, apart from the Bear Factory - they never replied.

I think in a customer facing job like being on a till in Tesco it's important that they give good service - these people are the face of the store. I have often had bad service at tills, seems like the job is just not for some people, but if it is at the stage of you dreading to go to the shop then its gotta be pretty bad.
Can you not go to another till? If you are looking to complain, you can probably get his name from your till receipt, or it will at least have his ID or something so they can find out who you are complaining about.
I'm sure if you mention the service you've been given they will have a word with him about it.
Hope it gets better next time you go :)

if he has had a few complaints against him he may been giving a warning if not he may just be called in to have a chat about customer service it would be helpful if you knew his name though so maybe next time you do go into Tesco you could find out his name other staff members would know his name if you didn't want to ask him. Or while your there you could talk to the manager face to face.

No. But my mom has.

No not to a supermarket, I have to a fast food franchise and a food manufacturer and got positive results on both. In your case, as it is a local issue, perhaps you should just call the store manager of the store you are talking about!
