Yes I lost mine at the beginning of November. I worked in recruitment. Obviously, as companies do less and less hiring because of the recession, they don't need recruiters so they are the first people to go! My company cut 12% of its workforce globally, which was about 200 people. They closed down operations entirely in Spain and Switzerland, and then aside from that most of the losses were in the UK and the USA.
Also, one of my friends who was in recruitment at another company lost hers about a week before I did, and another friend is now currently on unpaid leave (as she is a contractor) and will find out next week whether she still has a job or not.
I've found a new job as an HR Administrator. The job is too junior for me, I've taken a massive pay cut and the job is with an organisation and in a sector that I definitely don't want to be working in. But, I know that I'm lucky to have any job at all at the moment so I'm not complaining! |

My husband lost his job way back at beginning of September. He worked as a Kitchen Designer. He still hasn't managed to find anything else yet, though has been applying for everything. We are slightly hampered as we have a baby to care for and we can't afford nursery fees so things are looking pretty bleak for us at the moment :o( |

As of today I have no job.
I was employed by Woolworths in the UK as a Sales Assistant. I always imagined that Woolworths would be around forever and it doesn't seem real that I'll never have to go to work there again. |

Hi there,
I can totally sympathise as I was made redundant (laid off) from my £26k job in August of 2008.
At the time, it felt like my whole world had fallen apart, but now, just 4 1/2 months on and I feel so enriched.
I am able to enjoy my family so much more, watch my young son grow up, relax more, feel healthier and feel far more chilled out than I ever have.
How, I hear you ask?
By starting my own Business and putting my own destiny in my own hands.
