I've been with my current electric company since April 2007 after switching from a previous company who's rates were really high. Everything was going great with our new company until a couple months ago when we didn't receive a bill for Nov. I called them and they said it was an error on their part and they would send a bill immediately. Well, it took forever but we finally received the bill and it was paid in Dec. Well...December rolls around and we didn't receive a bill once again. I called TODAY and they told me that the bills were sent out late and we should receive it soon and OH BY THE WAY you have a bill that our computer never sent out for SEPT. Well, I'm confused because we've been a member for 7 months (minus Dec. and starting with Apr/May bill) and I have 7 bills. Also, now they tell me the Dec. bill is SOOO expensive and they think it's an error and off by over $100!! Is there anything I can do? It's their error and they are just saying sorry pay it!

Just wanted to say, they plan on correcting the December bill, but aren't considerate about the bill in Sept. that I wouldn't have even known about if I didn't call today to check on Decembers bill. I received no letter or call about that bill... |

call them repeatedly and go from the beginning repeatedly and if the person just tries to placate you again, ask to speak to the supervisor, and his/her supervisor, and his/her supervisor, etc. |

Yes indeed, call them back and ask for a supervisor. When you get one, ask to get audited because you have your paper work that shows you have paid and you are being told you haven't. Also request they send some one out out to read the meter fully and up to date and show you the cost from day one of your service to the day the meter is read. (they are required to do this by law if you request it). Good luck. |

This is going to sound mean - but its a utility - you knew it had to be paid - and its your responsbility to pay it regarless if a bill comes or not ( i am sure this is in the fine print somewhere in your service agreement) most large companies work that way and you are going to be falling on deaf ears if you gripe about it to them... Go thru each bill you have and compare usage against the charges. Were there a lot of late fees/penalties? Call the company and ask them for a detailed transaction history to assist you in the comparison. Costs for heating/cooling/energy have gone up over the past few months and its expected to get worse. You should consider yourself lucky if they didnt report it on your credit (which would be the worst in all this mess)... and you get to pick utility companies? We have one - thats it ONE - they run everything and screw ya' bcz they can. |
