i wrote a management plan of action for a current business that i believed was being run ineffectively. i wrote a 16 page report including table of contents and index. i wanted to know if theres anything else i can do to increase my chances on getting an A. should i make business cards and pass them out. what are the basice essentials that one need to hold a business meeting? My instructor said to present as if i was trying to get hired into the company's management team. i have to pretend that i'm in a business meeting. so can anyone help me? Additional Details i'm actually in college (1st yr) i'm majoring in fashion merchandise and going for a minor is business mgmt. i do have a power point and printed out the slides and made it as colorful as possible while still remaining conservative. i have my references, acknowledgments, index, and interview q's and all that good stuff. my report is pretty detailed, maybe even a little too detailed! i just want to make sure i get an A. i have to get an A. Maybe some slides showing your findings in short precise points and what your action plan would be to solve those findings.
Key with slides is to make them basic and you elaborate on them when you go through them. Don't write your whole report on slides and read off it. |

Bring in some coffee & doughnuts. Some visual aids would help. |

Are you using powerpoint or posters to help with your presentation. That would be more professional. You need it to be colorful to get their attention. Good luck Hope you get an A. |

congratulations on your diligence with this high school project.
What do you need for a business meeting? Rent a room at the local library, and send memo to all you want to attend.
State the objective of the meeting, time, and place.
Have a secretary record the "minutes" or notes of your meeting
to display in a public place, such a your library boards of school
and boro. That way if its a public affair, everyone can get involved.
What is your objective?
Did you include "Case Histories" that are pertinent to your Management Plan?
Did you state all your resources in a "Bibliograph:
you know Title, Auther, Publisher, copyright , (ask the English teacher or Composition teacher for this.
Did you include references to what your righting about
at the end of each chapter
Is your work well organized and structures with beginning
text and conclusion?
This sounds wonderful. I hope you get an A for the Day
Will you be a business Major in College? |

First of all, keep the presentation simple.
Show only what is important. The objective of the meeting is giving them information that they need to take a decision, and nothing else. If the information is not relevant to the decision, do not show it.
A good format could be:
Objective of presentation
Description of situation
Main reasons for the situation (if you can make a chart with arrows describing the relations among the cause-effects could be good - keep it simple also)
Alternatives evaluated
Pros/cons
Investment and results
Action plan recommended, with dates and responsibilities
Conclusion/summary
In reference to format, do not abuse of colors.
If it is a meeting to debate and take decisions, it does not look good complicated backgrounds, borders, colors, etc.
I have made and have seen many presentations, some of them to a CEO of a very known multinational company, and most of the presentations were in black and white.
You need to create trust, confidence in your judgment.
It would be different a presentation to create excitement in a sales force.
Show tables with numbers only if necessary, and be sure that figures can be read.
About text, uses "telegraphic" style, with bullits, instead of long phrases (you have the phrases in your notes) |

If you find a problem with the company, quantify the problem in dollar lost and maximize it over time. Just like the business consultant, if his or her client does not see big bucks flying out of the window, the consultant doesn't get hired.
If you find a solution, quantify the savings in dollar terms and maximize it over time as well. The guy is going to pay good money to hire you, he wants his pay back in bundles. So never make a claim that you are going to be the best, that the company will be most this and that. Make it measurable. Big word means diddly squat in the business world. Every improvement you suggest must be tied to improvement in terms of increase in how many dollar sales, units of production, reduction of cost in dollars etc. That is the real business world we live in.
A word on being interviewed. Your professor will most likely ask you a few open ended questions to rattle you or to see just how prepared you are. Do not answer open ended questions unless you know what he or she is after. Otherwise you will be barking up the wrong tree and walk right into quick sand.
Suppose your professor asks you something like "Why should we hire you or why do you think you can succeed in this position"? You may want to reply by saying "Good question, am I to assume you want to know if I can solve some of your concerns about the company"? If he says yes, your should immediately follow up with the next one " Well what are some of the most important issues on your mind"? Now you know what ihat person is after. You should by this time be very familiar with the high points of your presentation. Start throwing those out to satisfy everyone of his concerns. When the guy has no more questions, be sure to ask for the job by saying " Since you seem to be satisfied with our discussion, may I assume that the poisition is mine if we agree on my compansation package"?
Remember, the hype, the first impression all of that are great but the dialog is the one that will win you the A. Controll the conversation by answering a question with a question before you answer it. |
