Help with removing someone from the cult that is Amway? ?

A month ago my older sister was a courier driver. But then she crashed her truck (managing to escape injury!!) and is too fearful to drive it again.
Now she has been sucked into and brainwashed by the cult that is Amway and due to their false hope and empty promises that she can't see through, she is convinced she can make good money. I've seen the catalogue of products.. crappy quality and ridiculous prices... no chance of making money... but you can't convince her otherwise!! (And its not that she's stupid or naive, just a victim of Amways deceitful marketing)
I fear that she is putting in so much of her time and money and telling us its all great, all while watching her money go down the Amway black hole...

I would like to hear from anyone who has managed to enlighten a close friend/loved one and got them back on track!

Sounds like you are the ignorant one. First off, she is not spending any money on a black hole. Just like at Costco, you pay an initial registration fee but that is it. After that, you just buy products you would buy anyways from other stores. She is just buying those "anyways" stuff online. No loss of money there. As for her wasting her time. She is spending time will people that want to get ahead in life and not work 9 to 5 forever. Maybe if you were a more positive person she would listen to you and want to hang out with you. Overall, you will not help her with her future. You must be a dead end for her so she is associating with people that are there to HELP her get ahead. If you want to keep her down to your level, that is your choice but supporting someone when they want more in life will not hurt them. Sure, some people don't make it in Amway. That is with any business that people start. It takes time and ambition to make it and most people lack that. People look for the get rich quick schemes which Amway does not offer. Hope this helps.

My partner and I recently had a look at Amway as an opportunity to make some passive income. We are both in our twenties and thought it could be a good opportunity.

While I am not sure of your sisterâ€™s circumstances I found that buying in bulk was not practical for myself. One of the main aspects of Amway that I strongly disliked was that you never seemed to be able to mention the words Amway when talking to someone about it; it was always very secretive â€“ never open or transparent.
In Amway you have to be extremely comfortable with talking to people about the products available and the opportunity it presents in order to sign them and create team volume. I found that Amway recommended using â€˜training toolsâ€™ which was often in the form of listening to CDâ€™s about the product and the business to educate yourself; however I also found that these were made by people higher up in the Amway business and I personally felt that perhaps more money was made in the selling of the paraphernalia to new recruits rather than the opportunity that was originally offered to you.
The structure of Amway isnâ€™t exactly great either new people wont necessarily be added under your sister but more likely next to her so basically that means more work for her rather than working in a team to create team volume â€“ which is where commissions come from.
I would suggest reminding your sister that there is no business that will be a get rich quick scheme she will have to work hard to build her business â€“ like anything in life you only get out what you put in.
I personally feel that Amway has been around for a good 20 years and often opportunities like this only have a 20-25 year life span (in my personal opinion) and perhaps Amway is coming to a close as realistically she is getting in quiet late.

However, unfortunately the things I am mentioning to you I had to find out the hard way and had already joined before I was â€˜enlightenedâ€™

It is also worthwhile mentioning that not all network marketing or MLM opportunities like Amway are a waste of money or a scam I would definitely research MLM style business and educate yourself on the topic. It is best to find a transparent company that doesnâ€™t hide anything and definitely try to get your hands on an income disclose statement to see how many people are in the business how much money they make from it and the amount of time they have to put in each week!

Yeah I started with Amway and didn't get anywhere with it. I then came across Jamie McIntyre who saved me from going down the MLM road.

If you do not get paid by the hour , you just will not earn money,As a courier, taxi driving , as such, you only earn for goods sold or carried., the other time you are on call , no wages.

Actually, the AMWAY core products (soaps and cleaning products) are of wonderful quality. Yeah, you have to buy in bulk, but considering the price and quality, it is a very good buy.

I got involved about a decade ago and gave it a good college try. This was when I found out that I am NOT a salesman. It's a shame because I really believe in their product and business model.

It was when I read in their own literature that an active distributor that is drawing 10-15 circles each week, they have only a one in 200 chance of becoming a Direct Distributor (what we called them back then. A direct was one that had three distributors that each had three under them... and $1000 a month in sales total. That was when I grew discouraged and bailed out.
