I worked at Home Depot in 2005 for about 9 months. I started at $10.00 per and at 90 day review got a "whopping" 50 cent raise. As I learned about more departments, increased my training, etc. at 9 months I got to $12.00 per.
My HR manager said I became more valuable to the store, played the political game at the store, and the managers liked me because I could work a number of areas. |

Simply. Below the national poverty guidelines. And also the if you get offered benefits and take them you wind up working for the benefits. To me the wages have not been taken account for the rising cost of living since about 1973. Home Depot doesn't pay any better for a floor associate then maybe Mcdonalds. It's retial and that should say it all. I do for them and I must say that other than cashiers the one I work for is very age freindly. We have many semi-retired people working here. I would say the average age of my locations employees is around 35-38. Now if you happen to be a specialist in any department such as pro desk, millworks, design center you make more with the special orders sales. It is retail and the goal is sales, period. Not making employees happy with decent wages. However they do train and to a great extent. Our HR will send us out of town or out of state to recieve the best possible training. |

i started out at 9.50, as a cashier with the intention of being promoted, which happened about 9 months later. this was in sept. of '03. couldn't tell you now, though. |

I started in August '06 as a floor associate in Garden at $10 an hour. Got the usual 50 cent raise at 90 days. About 9 months into it, I became a Dept. Supervisor and was bumped to $13. I am now an MEA making $15 an hour. 5 dollars in a year and a half isn't too bad... |

With the economy the way it is....rising cost of fuel....increased minimum wage.....it will probably only be minimum wage. All businesses are suffering and are cutting back somehow, even closing. |
