How are Banks like Bank of America able to charge ($35.00) per overdraft item? Why is this legal?
Who can we as a Society complain to about these ridiculous ginormous overdraft fee's? Do you realize that for someone making minimun wage, Bank of America is charging them 4 hours of their earning's to punish them. That's Mortifying!

arg, i have been there with BOA!!! at one time i think they charged me 6 overcharge fees in the same day. the way to get out of each one is never call the customer service line. march down to the bank and speak with a customer service rep there and they take them off each time :)

They are able to do it because people like you keep banking with them. If enough people get sick of it and go some where else they will have to change.

Alex: Consider the $35 as tuition for "The Learning To Be an Adult" school. In that school you will learn how to read, write, add, and subtract, and how to balance your check book.
As a "society" it is expected of you. Some day, when you grow up to be an adult, you will realize that the $35 tuition was cheap. And...don't expect "Big Brother" to correct your own deficiencies.

topdawgco97
Yes it is legal, you signed a contract stating that if you overdrew your account you would be liable for the additional $35 fee. The problem with this is hat all banks use almost the same contract, so there is no way around it except to not overdraft, or to have the Financial institutions "Overdraft Protection"

well, people shouldnt be spending money they dont have. But, I know mistakes happen...but you sign something agreeing to their policies... so its legal.

1. You agreed to this condition by opening and maintaining this account with them.
2. If you don't like it, find another bank. You're only held hostage by your own fear and ignorance.
3. Overdrawing an account means there is no money there to cover your debt. You should thank the bank for allowing you to keep the account open while you deposit sufficient funds to cover your debt.
4. The earnings do not posess anything, so there is no need for an apostrophe.
