If I were you I would firstly explain your situation to the gym and see if they will cancel the membership. If not ask what the cancellation fee is, I have come across a gym before where it was ÂŁ75 to get out of the contract. It's annoying but it would be worth paying as in the long run you are still saving money and you'll know not to sign up on a 12 month basis in the future.
Be careful when it comes to just cancelling your DD with the bank and refusing to continue the gym payments. My sister did that and they did not like it so they took it as far as refering her to a debt collection agency! Just to warn you that some gyms are not sympathetic! |

Usually you can't--you just have to let it expire. that, or pay a termination fee. talk to the receptionist about what you can do to cancel your membership (though I think everyone should be getting fit, as it's New Year's resolution time ^__^) |

just cancel the subscription and call them and say you are experiencing financial difficulties, they cant extract what you dont have! They might want a contribution towards the lost money but at least you wont have to pay full 12 months.
In these situations honesty is the best policy! Gyms must experience this all the time. Especially in February! when the resolutions wear off. |

Contact the gym and explain your situation and hopefully they will cancel it. I have just cancelled mine for the same reasons and they were very understanding. I was too late for this month as the money was due to go out the next day so I do still have a month to go. I went to the bank and cancelled the DD as well so that no more payments can go out. |

It might be unfortunate that you cannot cancel your membership but the best thing to do would be to go there and explain why you need to do it or try to extend your membership and pay less over more months (if that makes sense?!) hope this helps |

usually you can't because when you signed up you entered into a contract. However, some gyms will cancel it if you move house out of a certain mile radius of the gym. Maybe ask a mate who lives far away from the gym if you can use his/her address and tell the gym thats where you're moving too. Good luck |

You can try to explained them that you are in a difficult fiancial situation, they usually don't want to cancel your membership but you can try, as the saying goes (in French) : someone who doesn't try anything doesn't have anything...
You can even try to sell it on the web, it works very well !

you have nearly finished your contract now already so give in a written months notice and they will cancell your contract for you but unfortunately they are not under any obligation to refund any money once you cancell. Be sure to give in a written letter that you want to cancell your membership, send it in recorded via the post - Don't hand it in. The reason for this is that some places renew your contract automatically unless stated otherwise in writing. They don't have to tell you but it's in the small print on the agreement form that you sign. |
