Don't do it. You want to end up like Martha Stewart?

Please -- don't confuse this any more. Insider trading is simply trading by an officer, director, or other major stakeholder. It is not illegal.
If you act on information that you have that is not public, then your insider trade can be illegal.
And Martha Stewart did not go to jail for insider trading, but instead for lying under oath about it.

This is what you do...
You get a high profile job. Lets say a CEO or maybe a CFO. You are required to give earnings reports on dates for your stock holders. Lets say you know its going to be bad. The company is losing money. You sale 1 hour before the public knows. You made a ton because the stock tanked.
Lets say the stock is going to do well. You buy options at the current price. The earnings report comes out and you kill the market in price.
Its actually pretty simple. Extremely illegal, but very simple. If you want to do it. You need the right job. You need to know what is going to happen the day before. Get an MBA and get a damn good job. Then take your chance.
You can make millions doing it. Worse case scenario they take all the money bank and you spend 20 years in prison. I say take the chance. Just me. Somebody has to be able to get away with it. Yet I dont know anybody that has.

THere is a couple of ways but the SEC frowns upon it. And since you have to ask..well they might make an example of you...The frowning can include jail time
