1. The Japanese government helps fund Toyota.

Actually Toyota has postponed its plans. Japanese companies come to the US for cheaper labor just as US companies go to Mexico for auto assembly for cheaper labor. GM and Ford do not want to employ more people in the US. They are looking for cheaper labor.

Toyota can build cars that people want/need to live. GM sells cars/trucks that are to large and use to much gas. GM can get the government to bail them out, Toyota can't get a bail out.
