How can i check a company in america to make sure it is legitimate?
is it public or private. if it's public, then you can do lots of research on it.
if it's private, you might have to hire someone likea detective to find out if it is legit. private companies keep their financials private, that's why they're hard to track.

Check with the state of incorporation (e.g., Arizona or Delaware) to confirm that the company was incorporated and is still in good standing. If it is a public company, you should check to see whether any filings were made with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission using the search facility at the Web page <>.http://www.sec.gov/edgar.shtml>. The United States Federal Trade Commission may also have information on certain companies, so you could also check with that agency. You can also call or e-mail the Better Business Bureau (the "BBB") in the city where the company has its head office, to determine whether the BBB has any detrimental information about the company. Finally, you should also perform some due diligence by conducting a thorough Web search using a meta-search engine like the one at <>.http://www.dogpile.com>.

Well ya can send me 100 bucks and I can tell you..OR you can google the company name like this
"company name" "forrums"
Then see what comes up. Seriously it sounds dumb but if you do that you will get alot of results of people talking about that company in various forrums. After reading over a few of those you can usually tell if they are trustworthy or not :)
