From your question, I would be guessing that you are having difficulties with the outsourced recruiters? By still using an external recruiter, whether freelance or not, you will probably still encounter the same problems until you get the one for you.
I have recruited many staff and have found agencies can be very poor at sending the right candidate because they just chuck whoever at you, hoping to get their commission. I have even found when using them to find me a job disheartening.
You have several options, find someone who you feel is actually working for you and listens to your needs and insists if they take a candidate on that they have interviewed them personally first, use a freelancer but get them to do the same and perhaps spend some time in the business with you first or go your own route and try and recruit direct.
A free lancer will or can do as much or as little as you want them to do, you are employing them to work for you, but again you have to "recruit" them! However much work they do for you, don't be frightened to reject what you don't want and only pay them on a sucessful candidate. Some get paid xx months into the start of the employment.
Dependent on who you get as a freelancer, they will have contacts and dependent on type of role proceed much as you would. Again this will depend on the brief you give them
What you might find worthwhile if you are getting candidates but not feeling confident that you are getting the right people is investing in some further assessments for the candidates or get them to demonstrate their skills, presentations are now really common, or even recruitment training for you so you can assess them better?
Also, be prepared to look outside the box, you don't say what industry that you are in, but quite often in sales I have found a CV doesn't always reflect the whole person behind it, gut feeling is always a fallback. |
