How come it is so difficult to find everyday products made in the U.S.A.?

It used to be very easy.

But with the advent of the Internet, it is now easier to locate cheaper sources of manufacturing and supply.

Hence, you will find less and less products made in the U.S.A. even if the brand is American.

We are witnessing an unprecedented era in the history of mankind. Doing businesss has never been easier and more profitable. The world economy is now truly a 'Global Village' largely because of the Internet.

The number of American companies doing business with China and Taiwan is ever increasing and will likely continue so for the next 20 years. This is the reason why you notice most everyday products are made by these two countries.

Why China and Taiwan and not other countries?
Because these two economies are aligning themselves to be THE manufacturers of the world, capitalising on their large workforce and developing expertise in manufacturing. You know something big is brewing in these two Asian countries when even an American legend such as IBM changes it's name to Lenovo and becomes Chinese.

If there is something to be learned here, it is that all the youngsters out there who are still in school should take your education seriously. Learn as much as you can and then some. This is YOUR era. We will not be passing it again. If you have dreams to be in some kind of business, no matter how small, this is the time of your life.

Cheers!

shortsightedness on the part of the companies outsourcing jobs to make a quick buck for the shareholders. soon there will be no-one left able to buy the products at any price, since there will be no jobs left here.

Americans don't work for 14 cents an hour in sweat shops. Want something for a cheap price? Chances are it was made by some 14 year old in some crappy country working for next to nothing. Americans say they want to buy American, but what they really want are cheap products and they don't wanna know where they come from.

VeggieCandleLady
It's cheaper for companies to buy and pay other countries to create the products and the workers work for pennies.

Sad but true.

arcticwolf71960
The answer is simple. It's because it's so much cheaper to produce goods overseas. Every answer you get will likely be the same one. I mean look how the Chinese have affected the electronics market! You can buy T.V.'s, computers, VCR's and DVD players so cheap, that it's more cost effective to just throw them out and buy a new one, rather then to get them repaired. What a world, huh?

elvitatruth
Off-shoring. Its too expensive for companies to pay for insurance, taxes, etc in the US. In other countries business owners do not have to pay employees as high a rate and other things like not having labor unions makes sending factories out of the country so affordable it off sets the cost of moving production.

We've been outsourced. It's cheaper to buy products made elsewhere. It's sad, really. Just yesterday I picked up a pair of cowboy boots (An entirely American thing, I would think.) and stamped on the bottom is "Made in Taiwan."

Cheap labor in foreign countries.
