How do I become a CEO of a Fortune 500?

I once read about someone who did this at a relatively young age. Apparently, he began at a very young age (12 or so) to be fascinated by the CEO's of Fortune 500 companies, and studied everything he could about them.

Get several business degrees and work really hard.
Talk to your school career counselor for suggestions.

Or..........tryout for The Apprentice. :)

Alot of hard work and a great education to start with. You need to work your way up. Expect this goal to take until you are around 40-45 years old.

It's called "Leadership!" And a degree inaounting helps. 90% of ceo's come up through accounting.

You need to understand that they did work hard at getting where they are. They do have a "gift of gab" so you need to work on that. And many CEO's have MBA's but many do not. Mostly, you need to choose a company that you will enjoy working with, or maybe even start your own... do you have a good, original idea?

Start out by being born rich and well-connected, then go to elite schools and make even more connections. Upon graduation, you need to have a family friend get your foot in the door at their corporation, in some kind of low-level managerial position. Work reasonably hard, but always remember the important thing is to kiss butt and make many friends. At this point, you need to take up golf. As you get older and all of your peers begin to move into executive positions at their own companies, you will all help each other move up the ladder, recommending each other for new openings at the Executive level. Eventually, you and your friends will start to become CEO's, and sit on the Boards of Directors of each other's companies, and dole out huge bonuses and equity awards to each other.

you're a woman and have a distinct advantage over men........

Look good in a suit and say things that make no sense. Shareholders will think you are so smart you are over their heads. Then you can giggle all the way to the bank. Works for most of the other ones!
