How do I find out about corporations that behave ethically?
You keep hearing about unethical corporations, what about ones that try to be ethical?

The best resources are:

Sorry J, but Sears and Kmart have PLENTY of evil under their belts as well.

Anyway, if you look for the "fair trade certified" label, that is your BEST indicator of products made under the strictest and highest of ethical standards. The easiest things to find are drinks, namely coffee and tea. I find Equal Exchange to be great pioneers of this endeavor. And their stuff is delicious. There are lots of clothing lines that are coming to the fore as well; their stuff is top quality. Gaiam is another all-around useful tool for everyday, household items. I hope I helped! Keep it green, ~N

I dont know any that are ethical anymore. even if you dont hear anything, does mean a thing. even small corp, treat workers pretty bad these days. Hardly any are US owned, so they can do what ever they want, and there are few laws to stop them

ConcernedCitizen
"Ethical corporation" is almost an oxymoron in today's business world, but one way to check a company's ethics is to see if the Better Business Bureau has any information on it.

It's kind of like good news on the evening news. The bad stuff is sensational and what brings viewers, all the good stuff that happened rarely gets reported. Maybe it's just that they are expected to behave ethically, so to do so is not worthy of reporting.

Good Question...

I usually support the underdog for this reason.

The big players usually got big by cutting corners and treating their employees unfairly.

I find it's better to support small "mom & pop" businesses wherever possible.

Sears and K-mart are good companies for the most part.

--- The bad guys ---

Wal-Mart is terrible.
Starbucks is bad.
Gap and Banana Republic are awful.
McDonalds is one of the worst (because they wear a mask of being a great company that supports America... which is far from the truth.)

Those are the basics.

Simple. If you don't hear anything about them, then they're probably ethical. Only the unethical get front-page treatment.
