The quickest way is to look up the company in Hoover's business database.

Follow this link and access the "Hoover's US Free Site."

You will get much better results if you can find a library that has a subscription and access the pay version.

I am a business librarian, and this is the best source out there for doing reserach on businesses.

if they're not public then you'll have to call and ask. If they ARE public then you can go to finance.yahoo.com, enter the stock symbol and look for 'Insider Holdings' or 'Insider Transactions', the big stock holders are typically listed there.

Find out where it's incorporated. Usually Delaware and contact the state business regulations office. If it's privately owned, it's probably harder to get the info.
